How one battery cuts a shop's stock

Four battery sizes cover every 21 V tool: how many a shop needs to stock, and how the customer’s second tool works out.

Five batteries or one

A hardware shop selling three or four cordless brands has to stock several kinds of batteries and chargers under the shelf: 12 V, 18 V, 20 V, each in several capacities. Batteries and chargers tie up money, and stored batteries need regular top-ups.

LEIYU 21 V tools share one battery with the Dayi A3-type mount common in China, in four capacities, 2.0, 4.0, 6.0 and 8.0 Ah, and there is one charger. What a shop needs to stock is those four batteries and one charger.

How many a shop should keep

Every single tool comes with two batteries and a charger, so a shop does not need to stock batteries just to sell tools. What it stocks are batteries for existing customers to add: enough of the standard capacity of the two or three best-selling tools, for instance more 6.0 Ah if wrenches sell most, or 2.0 and 4.0 Ah if drills do. There is only one charger, so a faulty one is simply replaced.

Batteries in stock need a top-up every two to three months. The fewer you stock, the less recharging there is to do.

The customer's second tool

With the first LEIYU 21 V tool, a customer already has two batteries and a charger. With the second, the batteries of both tools are interchangeable, so the shop does not need to explain batteries again when recommending it.

Reordering and after-sales

When reordering, batteries and chargers go on the order by model, with no connectors or voltages to match. For after-sales, batteries and chargers are covered for 1 year and replacement parts are included with the next shipment.

The one exception

The compact XLY-16-10 drill uses its own 16.8 V battery, which does not fit 21 V tools. It weighs 0.771 kg without the battery and suits tight spaces such as cabinets, ceilings and the inside of equipment. The website and catalogue mark it separately; in the shop, display it away from the 21 V shelf so customers do not pick up the wrong battery.
